Course Outline

This 3-hour course combines both theoretical and practical components and provides participants with the essential knowledge and skills required to safely and effectively operate gas detection equipment in the workplace.

  • Common hazardous gases encountered in industrial settings

  • Gas behavior, layering, and density

  • Importance of fresh air zeroing, bump testing, and calibration

  • Interpreting data and readings from gas detectors

  • Setting and understanding low and high alarm thresholds

  • Use of sampling accessories such as hoses and air pumps

  • Recognizing and responding to different alarm types

  • Troubleshooting and interpreting error messages
